Opening an Account
Visit any of C&F Bank's 30 branches with a valid government-issued photo ID and your Social Security number. Most personal checking accounts require a $25 minimum opening deposit. Business accounts require your EIN, articles of incorporation or organisation documents, and a resolution authorising signers. The entire process takes about 30 minutes in-branch.
C&F Bank offers several checking tiers: Free Checking (no monthly fee, no minimum balance), Interest Checking (earns interest on balances above $1,000) and Premium Checking (waived fees with $5,000 combined balance). Your banker will help you choose the right fit based on your transaction volume and balance patterns.
Account Maintenance
Manage your account through CFFC online banking, the mobile app, or by visiting a branch. You can update your address, phone number and email online. Adding or removing joint owners, beneficiaries or Power of Attorney designations requires an in-branch visit with proper documentation.
Statements are available electronically through eStatements (free) or by mail ($3/month). Dormant account fees apply after 12 months of inactivity on accounts below $100. To close an account, visit a branch with your ID or submit a signed written request. Any remaining balance is disbursed by cheque or transfer.

Enrolment and Login
To enrol in CFFC online banking, visit any branch with a photo ID or call 804-843-2360. You will receive an activation email within 24 hours. Click the link, create your username, set a password (minimum 10 characters, mixed case, number, special character) and configure multi-factor authentication. The entire setup takes about 10 minutes.
If you forget your password, click "Forgot Password" on the login page. Enter your registered email for a one-time code. If your account is locked after three failed attempts, call 804-843-2360 for identity verification and manual unlock.
Mobile App Features
The C&F Bank mobile app (iOS and Android) includes mobile cheque deposit (same-day availability under $5,000), bill pay, account-to-account transfers, Zelle peer-to-peer payments, real-time balance and transaction alerts, and biometric login via fingerprint or Face ID.
To deposit a cheque, endorse the back with "For Mobile Deposit Only — C&F Bank" plus your signature. Photograph both sides in good lighting. Deposits before 4pm ET are typically available the same business day. Retain the physical cheque for 14 days after deposit confirmation.

Debit Cards
New debit cards are mailed within 5-7 business days after account opening. Activate your card by calling the number on the sticker or through CFFC online banking. Default daily limits are $500 ATM withdrawal and $2,500 point-of-sale purchases — these can be adjusted by calling 804-843-2360 or visiting a branch.
Travelling? Set a travel notification through the mobile app or by calling us to prevent transaction blocks. Lost or stolen cards: call 800-555-4278 immediately (24/7). A temporary freeze can be activated instantly via the app while you verify the situation.
Loans and Branch Services
Loan applications can be started at any branch, by phone, or online. C&F Bank is regulated by the Virginia Bureau of Financial Institutions. Required documents typically include two forms of ID, two recent pay stubs or tax returns, and bank statements for the prior 60 days.
